Hey there - I’m Noreen and so happy you are here!
I discovered I had a passion for painting after a simple DIY project got out of hand and before I knew it, I had a laundry room studio (fluorescent light over a table) that I would head to every evening after work. My home was filling up with artwork and friends started asking to purchase pieces. From there I entered juried shows, art fairs and had art in every restaurant and brewery that allowed me to take over their walls.
In 2018, I left my corporate job and have been a full-time artist since.
Throughout my life, I’ve had the opportunity to live in and travel to many beautiful places. The world is full of so much color, texture, movement, kindness and life. It is also filled with sadness, ugliness and tragedy. My abstract paintings come from those memories. Not in a replicate sense, but the awe and emotion felt in those places and moments, the ones that shaped me.
My paintings have aspects of those places I’ve been and carry an emotional sense of the people I’ve spent time with. My journey has been messy, empty, loving, ugly, broken, healing, joyful and beautiful. Life is too short to carry the bad or the negative burdens, so I paint. There will be chaotic elements, ugly harsh brush strokes, scribbled marks in my work, a color that seems random or out of place, but always a beautiful harmony comes through.
I want my art to invite the viewer to explore, interpret, relate to and further the story that I started when putting the first mark onto the canvas.
If my art speaks to your heart, we need to talk. I love working with clients to select or commission that one of a kind, original artwork for your space.
